ISTANBUL (AA) - China and Tajikistan on Wednesday signed eight cooperation documents in Beijing during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit, covering sectors ranging from transport and digital technologies to ecology, mining, and cultural exchange, according to the Tajik state-run Khovar news agency.

The agreements included a deal on international automobile traffic, a memorandum of understanding on a global security initiative between the foreign ministries, as well as documents on human resource development, statistics, and cooperation in the mining industry.

A key focus was the digital economy, with Tajikistan’s Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies and China’s State Data Administration agreeing to strengthen partnerships in this area.

Additional memorandums addressed environmental protection and humanitarian ties, including cooperation between the Tajik National Conservatory named after T. Sattorov and China’s Tianjin Conservatory.

China is one of Tajikistan’s largest economic partners, with bilateral trade exceeding $2 billion.
