ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Saturday asked its citizens in several Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, Iran and Bahrain, to "closely" monitor the situation and "strengthen safety precautions" amid Israeli and US strikes on Iran, state media reported.

The Chinese Embassy in Israel said the local security situation is "extremely severe," Beijing-based daily Global Times reported.

Advisories were also issued to Chinese citizens in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, it added.

The Chinese Embassy in Qatar advised Chinese citizens to stock up on food, water, medicine, and other essential supplies as needed and keep a low profile and heighten awareness of their surroundings.

Beijing on Friday urged its citizens in Iran to leave the country and issued an advisory against travel.

Separately, Pakistan's state-run airline suspended its operations across the Middle East due to the developing security situation in the region.

In a statement, a spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines said that flights to Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE have been cancelled. Flight operation for Saudi Arabia, however, will continue through a different route, he added.
