ANKARA (AA) - Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday urged the international community, especially the Global South, to raise a "stronger" voice of justice, and oppose "bullying and hegemony in the face of rising unilateralism and protectionism," state media reported.

Li made the remarks during his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Xinhua News reported Thursday.

Li also called on the world to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of all countries.

He warned that some "unilateralist and protectionist practices" are undermining the world economy and seriously hindering the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Li called on the global community to take more "concrete" actions, join hands to strengthen global development cooperation, safeguard free trade and economic globalization, and bolster common development and prosperity.

He said Beijing would continue to adhere to high-level opening up, share development opportunities with other countries and serve as a stabilizer and driving force for the world economy.

The Chinese premier also expressed China's firm commitment to upholding the authority and the role of the UN.
