ISTANBUL (AA) – A new unmanned cargo aircraft developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation completed a verification flight in complex terrain while carrying a 400-kilogram (nearly 881.8-pound) cargo box, state-run Xinhua News reported.

The YH-1000 on Monday delivered the payload to Liangping Airport after flying a round trip between Liangping and Wulong in southwest China's Chongqing municipality, according to the Science and Technology Daily.

The aircraft successfully completed full-scale testing for cargo transport, long-distance flight, and autonomous return across the rugged terrain of the Yangtze River Basin.

It flew a 134-kilometer (nearly 83 miles) route, crossing five mountain peaks over 1,000 meters (nearly 3,280 feet) high. According to its lead developer, the test confirmed the aircraft's readiness for commercial use.

First flown on May 22, 2025, the YH-1000 boasts ultra-short takeoff and landing, along with the ability to operate on dirt roads, grasslands, and highways, making it highly versatile for challenging environments.

With a 10-hour flight time, 8,000-meter (nearly 26,246.7 feet) ceiling, and over 1,000 kg (nearly 2,204.6 pounds) payload, the YH-1000 offers a cost-effective solution for fast cargo transport between cities and remote areas.
