ISTANBUL (AA) - Several battleships belonging to the Chinese Navy have recently conducted live-fire military exercises in the South China Sea to test their operational capability, according to China Daily on Monday.
The exercises were organized by one of South Sea Fleet’s training centers in coordination with a destroyer squadron, the daily reported, citing a statement from the fleet.
Drills involved several vessels, including the CNS Weinan, a Type 052D guided missile destroyer, and the CNS Yulin, a Type 054A guided missile frigate, it added.
Throughout the multi-day operation, the ships navigated through various waters and carried out a range of drills, including gunfire strikes on sea targets, personnel rescue missions, and damage control exercises, according to the daily.
It also said that the vessels conducted live-fire bombardment exercises targeting land-based positions.
