ANKARA (AA) - The Los Angeles Clippers on Friday re-signed their free agent superstar Kawhi Leonard.

"Continuing our journey together. We have officially re-signed Kawhi Leonard," the Clippers said on Twitter.

An NBA insider, Shams Charania said that Leonard returned to the Clippers, sealing a four-year contract with his team.

"Source: Kawhi Leonard is signing a four-year, $176.3 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers," Charania said on Twitter.

Five-time NBA All-Star Leonard, 30, has been a Clippers player since 2019.

The 10-year NBA veteran previously played for the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.

Leonard won the NBA title twice; 2014 with the Spurs and 2019 with the Raptors.

The 2019 title was the Canadian-based Raptors' first and only NBA championship.

He was the NBA finals MVP (Most Valuable Player) in 2014 and 2019.

Last season he averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game for the Clippers.

During the 2021 NBA playoffs, Leonard faced a knee injury -- a partial tear of his right anterior cruciate ligament.

Following his injury, Leonard underwent surgery in July.
