Coronavirus cases, deaths rise in Arab countries

Morocco, UAE, Iraq report more deaths, while number of cases rises in Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon

ISTANBUL (AA) - Health authorities in several Arab countries on Tuesday confirmed new deaths and more cases of the novel coronavirus.

- Iraq

The death toll reached 88 with one more fatality in Iraq. The number of cases climbed to 1,847 and the number of recoveries reached 1,286.

- Oman


The total number of cases mounted to 2,131 in Oman, while 364 people have recovered so far.

- Lebanon

The total number of cases rose to 717, while 145 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Lebanon.

- Morocco

The death toll in Morocco rose to 163, with total number of cases reaching 4,246. A total of 739 patients have recovered.

- UAE

The death toll in UAE climbed to 89 with seven more fatalities over the last 24 hours. The number of the cases reached 11,380, with 181 recoveries.

- Bahrain

The total number of cases in Bahrain rose to 2,810 after 87 more people tested positive for the virus over the past 24 hours. The number of recovered patients reached 1,246.


COVID-19 cases have been reported in 185 countries and regions since the novel coronavirus emerged in China last December, with the US and Europe the hardest-hit areas in the world.

Over 3.06 million cases have been reported worldwide, with the death toll above 212,000 and more than 906,000 recoveries, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the US.
