CORRECTS 'FIRST WRESTLING GOLD' AS 'FIRST GOLD IN EVENT'

ANKARA (AA) – Taha Akgul on Saturday became Turkey's first gold medalist at the Rio Games.

Current world champion, Akgul defeated Komeil Nemat Ghasemi of Iran 3-1 in the 125-kg freestyle for his first Games title, also winning the country's first Olympic gold medal in the event.

The win increased Turkey’s medal count to eight overall, with one gold, three silvers and four bronzes.
