BAKU (AA) - Coronavirus cases and fatalities on Monday continued to rise across Eurasian and Central Asian countries.
- Kazakhstan
In the Central Asian country of Kazakhstan, new cases rose by 1,646 to reach a total of 59,899 in the past 24 hours.
This week, with 111 more deaths, the total number of fatalities in the country reached 375, the Health Ministry said.
The country declared national mourning for the people who died due to COVID-19.
Health Minister Alexey Tsoy underlined the importance of resolute and efficient measures in the fight against the virus.
The 14-day quarantine procedures which started on July 5 continue in the country.
- Ukraine
Ukraine’s Health Minister Maksym Stepanov announced 612 new virus cases were reported over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 54,133, including 3,880 children and 7,425 health workers.
As many as 15 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,398, while recoveries climbed to 26,503, with 385 additions.
Due to the pandemic worsening in the country, quarantine measures were extended until July 31.
- Kyrgyzstan
In Kyrgyzstan, 488 more people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the overall tally to 11,117, including 3,460 recoveries.
With 15 more deaths, officials announced that the countrywide toll had reached 147 people.
- Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, 338 more people contracted the virus, raising the tally to 13,193.
Two more fatalities brought the toll to 61, while 129 more recoveries over the past 24 hours raised the total to 7,287.
The Health Ministry said 5,280 people were currently receiving treatment.
Medical staff have conducted 1.2 million coronavirus tests, while 70,000 people remain under surveillance.
As of today, Uzbekistan suspended the domestic flights and train services until the end of July as part of the measures against the virus.
Barber shops and beauty salons have been closed until Aug. 1.
- Armenia
Virus cases in Armenia increased to 32,151, as 182 more people contracted COVID-19 over the past day, according to Health Ministry data.
Eight more people died of the virus, raising the toll to 573.
A total of 135,687 tests have been performed in the country, while 19,865 people have recovered and the treatment of 11,530 patients continues.
The country decided to expand the state of emergency until Aug. 12.
- Tajikistan
Tajikistan's total number of cases reached 6,552 with 46 new cases, while 1,272 are still receiving treatment.
A total of 55 people have died in the country, while 5,228 patients have recovered.
- Georgia
Nine people contracted COVID-19 in Georgia, bringing the overall count to 1,026. 15 virus patients have died, while 857 have recovered so far.
Around 5,000 people have been quarantined.
- Global situation
Since first appearing in Wuhan, China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 188 countries and regions.
The pandemic has killed more than 569,600 people worldwide, with an excess of 12.93 million confirmed cases and over 7.11 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
