ANKARA (AA) - A suspected Daesh member was captured dead in a counter-terrorism operation here, a security source told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

Ankara Anti-Terror Branch teams carried out an operation in the Etimesgut district after receiving reports that a Daesh terrorist was preparing a suicide attack, according to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The suspect, who did not respond to demands "to surrender", was killed during a clash with police.

Scores of explosives were found in the suspect’s home by bomb and crime scene investigation teams.

Ankara governor's office issued warning Monday of potentially imminent terrorist attacks by Daesh as authorities canceled mass protests in the city until Nov. 30.

Turkey has been a prime target of suicide attacks since the rise of Daesh in the region. In the most recent attack in Gaziantep, nearly 60 victims were killed in August when a bomber detonated himself at an outdoor wedding ceremony, prompting Ankara to launch Operation Euphrates Shield to secure the border with Syria and clean the area of terrorists
