ISTANBUL (AA) – The death toll from a landslide in southwestern China has climbed to 10 while 19 others remain missing, state media reported on Monday.
The landslide occurred in a village in Yibin city in the southwestern Sichuan province at 11.50 am (0350GMT) on Feb. 8.
The search and rescue operation continued for the ninth day on Monday to find 19 missing people after the landslide buried 10 residential houses and a building, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Earlier, nearly 400 residents in the areas had been evacuated after the landslide, and the provincial authorities have mobilized around 1,000 personnel to assist the rescue efforts.
