Death toll rises to 13 in Argentina's floods as search operations continue

More than 900 evacuated as deadly floods strike Bahia Blanca, according to reports

BOGOTA, Colombia/ISTANBUL (AA) - The number of people killed in floods caused by heavy rain in Argentina has risen to 13, according to officials.

Buenos Aires provincial police said deaths have increased in the port city of Bahia Blanca, which was hit by the flooding.

A statement reported that search and rescue operations were continuing without interruption.

In Bahia Blanca, where homes and businesses have been submerged, it was reported that electricity is still out, and waters are expected to soon recede.

Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and Defense Minister Luis Petri visited Bahia Blanca to assess the disaster.

The number of evacuees in Bahia Blanca has surpassed 900, according to media reports.
