ANKARA (AA) - Denizlispor defeated Galatasaray on penalties to reach the round of 16 in the Turkish Cup 5th round Tuesday.

Denizlispor got off to an early lead with İlhan Depe in the ninth minute. The Lions equalized in the 29th minute with Alparslan Ozturk at NEF Stadium.

Brahim Darri gave Denizlispor the lead in the 38th minute before the end of the first half.

Halil Dervisoglu equalized for the Yellow Reds in the 49th minute and Galatasaray took the lead for the first time with Mostafa Mohamed one minute later.

Alparslan Ozturk was shown a second yellow card and sent off by the referee with Galatasaray down to 10 men in the 95th minute.

Galatasaray seemed to seal the victory until the Lions' defender Victor Nelsson put the ball into his own net and equalized just before normal time ended.

Neither team scored in the extra time, so penalties decided the winner.

Denizlispor beat Galatasaray, the most Turkish Cup holders with 18 trophies, 6-5 on penalties after Ogulcan Caglayan missed the sixth penalty shot for Galatasaray while Leo Schwechlen scored for Denizlispor.
