ARU, Democratic republic of Congo (AA) - At least 34 people have been killed and over 40 injured in a train accident Sunday afternoon in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The National Railway Company of Congo train crashed and caught fire near the Buyofwe railway station in the southern Lualaba province, local police officer, Sergeant Simon Tongwa, told Anadolu that
"The train that got involved in the accident was carrying goods, fuel tankers and passengers. The accident took place as the train went down a slope. The train crashed in a valley
and caught fire," said Tongwa
He said police have started investigating the cause of the accident.
