BEIJING (AA) – More than 50 flights were delayed after a drone was spotted flying over one of China’s busiest airports, according to state media Sunday.
The Shanghai Daily reported that operations at the eastern runway of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in southwest Sichuan Province were suspended after an unmanned aerial vehicle was detected at around 6.20 p.m. (1020GMT) Saturday.
It cited staff at the airport, the fourth busiest on the mainland last year, as saying that the incident resulted in the delay of 55 flights.
Operations at the runway resumed less than an hour and a half later.
