GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - A delegation of Egyptian intelligence officers arrived in the Gaza Strip on Thursday via the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing.
Delegation members are expected to meet with Hamas officials -- and leaders of other Palestinian factions -- to discuss a proposed ceasefire with Israel, a Palestinian source close to the talks told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
It is the second visit of its kind in one week. On Tuesday, another Egyptian delegation visited Gaza for talks with Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh.
Recent months have seen Egyptian officials engage in intense shuttle diplomacy between the Gaza Strip, the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Israel, where they have held talks with Hamas, members of the Palestinian government and Israeli officials respectively.
