CAIRO (AA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks in Oman on Monday to discuss ways of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Abdelatty and Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman’s minister of commerce, industry, and investment promotion, explored promising investment opportunities and ways to deepen economic partnership, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The discussions also dwelt on means of increasing trade exchange and integration in sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, liner transportation, logistics warehousing, food and pharmaceutical industries, and medical device manufacturing, according to the statement.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) in northeastern Egypt and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in southeastern Muscat.
He also highlighted the significance of maritime connectivity between Oman’s southern ports of Duqm and Salalah and Egyptian ports and improving liner transportation and logistics warehousing.
The top diplomat stressed the need to strengthen the role of the private sector and businessmen in advancing trade and economic relations and increasing mutual investment.
Abdelatty arrived in Muscat on Sunday on an official visit for talks with Omani officials on bolstering bilateral cooperation in different fields.
