English leaders Liverpool win at Brentford 4 - 1; Reds' Salah returns from injury to contribute

Egypt's Salah assists in Mac Allister’s goal as Nunez, Salah, Gakpo also score for visitors

English Premier League leaders Liverpool won 4 - 1 on Saturday at Brentford as the Reds' Egyptian star Mohamed Salah returned from a hamstring injury to score a goal and make an assist.

Liverpool's Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez scored on a quick counterattack after chipping the ball above the goalkeeper. The Reds led the first half 1-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

In minute 55, Alexis Mac Allister doubled the lead for Liverpool with an assist from Salah.

Salah scored Liverpool's third goal in the penalty area after teammate Cody Gakpo flicked a long ball into his path.

Brentford narrowed the gap to two goals in the 75th minute when Ivan Toney scored on a rebound by Liverpool's goalie.

Liverpool's Gakpo made it 4 - 1 in the 86th minute following a mistake by Brentford defenders.

So, Liverpool ended the day on top of the Premier League with 57 points in 25 matches.

Second-place Manchester City have 52 points but they have two games in hand. Man City will face Chelsea in a Saturday home match.

Third in the league table, Arsenal, are on 52 points.
