ATHENS (AA) - A group of Italian environmental activists staged a protest in front of the Senate building in Rome, media reports said Tuesday.
Two members of the Last Generation group covered themselves in the mud in reference to the last week's deadly floods in the northern Emilia Romagna region, said state-run ANSA news agency.
"We bring the mud of politics to the palace of politics,” they chanted.
Protestors claimed their aim was to highlight the need to tackle the climate crisis by large, according to the agency.
It noted that Carabinieri forces prevented some protestors from spraying liquid on the facade of the Senate building.
Last week's floods in Emilia Romagna killed 14 people and caused extensive damage to the local economy and infrastructure.
