ANKARA (AA) - The EU issued on Wednesday its final call for all EU citizens and businesses to prepare for a possible no-deal Brexit.
The statement issued by the EU Commission said a no-deal scenario on 1 November 2019, remains a possible but undesirable outcome.
It said that the Irish backstop provided by the withdrawal agreement is the only solution that safeguards the 1998 Good Friday Agreement and it ensures compliance with international law obligations and preserves the integrity of the internal market.
The statement added that the EU Commission has also published a detailed checklist on Wednesday to help those businesses that trade with the U.K. to make final preparations.
British MPs on Wednesday will use parliamentary time to pass a bill that will block a no-deal Brexit on Oct. 31, if Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government fails to reach a deal with the EU by that deadline.
The U.K. is set to leave the bloc at the end of October after two extensions granted by the EU.
Johnson who lost the crucial vote last night said he would submit a motion on snap election if the bill blocking no-deal Brexit passes the parliament.
