Euro area 4th quarter GDP growth revised upwards

GDP in eurozone rises 0.1% quarter-on-quarter in October-December, 2024, second reading shows

The eurozone economy grew by 0.1% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2024, slightly exceeding the preliminary estimate of 0% growth, according to a second reading released on Friday.

This marked the slowest quarterly growth rate in 2024, according to data from Eurostat.

On an annual basis, the eurozone's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.9% in the October-December period, in line with initial estimates and maintaining the same growth rate as the previous quarter.

In 2024, the GDP in the single currency zone increased 0.7%, accelerating from 0.4% in 2023.

The eurozone/euro area, or EA19, represents member states that use the single currency – the euro – while the EU27 includes all member countries of the bloc.
