European Alliance of News Agencies elects APA's Clemens Pig as president

EANA General Assembly held in Austrian capital Vienna

VIENNA (AA) – The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) elected on Friday Clemens Pig as its new president.

The General Assembly of EANA, of which Anadolu Agency is a founding member, was held in the Austrian capital Vienna and hosted by Austrian Press Agency (APA) that celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2021.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Anadolu Agency Director General Serdar Karagoz, two candidates competed for the presidency.

Clemens Pig, the chief executive of APA, was elected as EANA's new president. He will serve for two years.

Meanwhile, Elmir Huremovic, the director general of Bosnia Herzegovina News Agency (FENA), and Fabrice Fries, the president and director general of Agence France-Presse (AFP), became members of EANA executive board.

EANA aims to strengthen cooperation and news flow between news agencies. It also acts as a platform to address problems and prospects in the media industry.
