European competitiveness high on agenda as French, Austrian leaders meet

Austria, France work together for European strength, security and sovereignty, both leaders reaffirm

ISTANBUL (AA) - French President Emmanuel Macron and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker on Friday met in Paris, focusing on boosting European competitiveness.

"Especially in challenging times, we need strong and reliable partners who focus on what really matters: improving our European competitiveness, standing firm on migration, and ensuring responsible EU funding," Stocker wrote on X.

He reaffirmed that they are working with France "side by side" for a "strong" and "sovereign" Europe.

Macron also welcomed Stocker's first official visit to France with a post on X.

"Austria and France are working together to address major international challenges and strive for European economic competitiveness and the continent’s security," he said.
