European stock markets close day with gains

Benchmark index Stoxx Europe 600 rises 0.92% to 444.12 points

ANKARA (AA) - European stock markets completed the first trading day of the week in positive territory, as markets welcomed containment of the COVID-19 pandemic in China and the latest macroeconomic data announced in the US.

The US economy added 390,000 jobs in May, above market estimates, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6%, the Labor Department announced Friday.

At Monday’s closing, the benchmark index Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.92% to 444.12 points.

The UK's FTSE 100 index gained 1% to 7,608.22, while Germany's DAX 30 index climbed 1.34% to 14,653.81.

In France the CAC 40 index rose 0.98% to 6,548.78, and Italy's FTSE MIB 30 index added 1.65% to reach 24,565.67 points.
