European stocks end mostly lower, led by bank, auto shares

Stoxx 600 down 0.13%, Germany's DAX climbs 0.48%, France's CAC up 0.3%, while UK's FTSE rises 0.11%

ISTANBUL (AA) -European stocks closed the first trading day of the week with losses, except for the UK and Italy.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 index lost 0.13%, or 0.72 points, to close Monday at 553.4.

Bank stocks fell an average of 0.58%, and automaker stocks fell an average of 1.96%.

Germany's DAX 40 index was down 0.48% to end at 23,527.05 points, and France's CAC 40 fell 0.3% to 7,830.11.

Spain's IBEX 35 index also lost 1.17% to end the day at 15,082.5 points.

On the other hand, Britain's FTSE 100 index rose 0.11% to 9,226.68 points, and Italy's FTSE MIB index added 0.26% to close at 42,423.18.

Shares of German luxury sports car maker Porsche fell 7.19% after the company lowered its 2025 profitability forecast.

Shares of Volkswagen Group, Porsche's largest shareholder, also fell 7.09%.
