ISTANBUL (AA) - The euro area posted a foreign trade surplus of €7 billion ($8.2 billion) in June, down from €16.5 billion in the same month last year, Eurostat announced on Monday.
Eurostat added: "This decline was mainly driven by a drop in the surplus of chemicals and related products, which fell from €24.4 billion to €15.1 billion."
The euro area's exports of goods to the rest of the world in June were €237.2 billion, up 0.4% compared with June 2024.
Imports from the rest of the world stood at €230.2 billion, up 6.8%, over the same period.
During the first half of the year, the euro area recorded a surplus of €93.3 billion, compared with €102 billion in January-June 2024.
The euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to €1.46 trillion, and imports rose to €1.39 trillion.
