ISTANBUL (AA) - Unemployment rate in the euro area (EA) was 6.2% in July, down from 6.3% in June, Eurostat announced on Monday.
The figure also dropped to 5.9% from 6% in the EU over the same period.
Some 13 million persons in the EU, of whom 10.8 million are in the euro area, were unemployed as of July, down around 165,000 in the EU and 170,000 in the EA.
Highest unemployment rate among member countries was in Spain with 10.4%, followed by Finland 9.5% and Sweden 8.7%.
Lowest rates were seen in Malta, 2.6%, Czechia 2.8% and Slovenia 2.9%.
Youth unemployment rate was 14.4% in the EU and 13.9% in the EA; 2.8 million young persons were unemployed in the EU while 2.2 million in the EA.
