Ex-justice minister reportedly arrested in Egypt

Suleiman was appointed as justice minister in May 2013 and resigned after Morsi’s overthrow

ISTANBUL (AA) – Egyptian security forces have reportedly arrested former Justice Minister Ahmed Suleiman, according to two former judges.

Suleiman had served under former President Mohamed Morsi, who was ousted in a military coup in 2013 after serving only one year in power.

Writing on their Twitter accounts, former judges Ayman al-Wardani and Walid Sharabi said that Suleiman had been detained in Egypt.

The so-called Egyptian Revolutionary Council also said that the former minister had been arrested late Tuesday from his home in the central Minya province.

There was no official confirmation of the arrest by the Egyptian authorities.

Suleiman was appointed as justice minister in May 2013 and resigned after Morsi’s overthrow by the military.
