Spain beat Australia 95-88 in double overtime to advance to 2019 FIBA World Cup final

ANKARA (AA) - Spain bested Australia 95-88 in double overtime Friday to earn its ticket to 2019 FIBA World Cup final.

Toronto Raptors' big man Marc Gasol was the top performer for the Spanish victory, scoring 33 points against Australia in Beijing.

Spain's playmaker point guard Ricky Rubio produced 19 points and 12 assists and took seven rebounds.

Sergio Llull -- the Real Madrid guard -- scored 17 points and made six assists.

Australian point guard Patty Mills was the top scorer of Friday's nail-biting semifinal, as the San Antonio Spurs player tallied 34 points but committed seven turnovers.

Australian power forward Nic Kay had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

In addition, Australia's center Andrew Bogut played with 12 points and nine rebounds.

2006 world champions Spain are now booked for the World Cup final on Sunday.

"La Roja" Spain are now waiting to see who they will face on Sunday -- Argentina or France.

Australia will play a bronze medal game on Sunday.
