ISTANBUL (AA) - Moise Kean, a 24-year-old Italian whose parents are from the Ivory Coast, was subjected to racial abuse on social media following Fiorentina’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan.
The striker shared screenshots of racist messages he received on Instagram from Inter Milan fans. Accompanying the post, he wrote: "Still happening, in 2025," highlighting the issue of fan misconduct.
"The Viola club and the entire club express their closeness to Moise Kean, victim on social media, at the end of the match played against Inter in Milan, of heavy racist attacks," Fiorentina said in a statement. "The perpetrators of these gestures have been reported to the competent authorities.”
Kean has scored 19 goals and two assists in 29 matches since moving to Fiorentina from Juventus in July 2024.
He scored five goals in 19 matches for the Italian national team.
