Fire breaks out in Ankara hospital

Numune Training and Research Hospital, located in the capital's Altindag district, catches fire; no injuries reported

ANKARA (AA) – A fire broke out in a hospital in Turkey's capital Ankara on Wednesday night, said the Health Ministry.

The fire broke out in the neurosurgery and urology unit of the Numune Training and Research Hospital, located in Ankara's Altindag district.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in the hospital's B Block, and up to 100 patients were evacuated to other departments. If needed, patients will be evacuated to nearby hospitals, said the ministry statement.

At press time firefighters were still working to cool the remains of the fire, it added.

There were no reported injuries. Investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
