SANAA, Yemen/ISTANBUL (AA) – Six Yemenis died Monday after being swept away by flash floods in the southeastern Shabwah province, pushing the death toll from floods to 14 since last week.

The province’s media center said in a statement that floods struck the valleys of Bayhan, Jardan, Arma and Koura, killing six people.

The statement, published on the US social media company Facebook, said the floods also swept away three vehicles and damaged public roads, power networks, private property, and agricultural lands in the province.

In Hajjah province in northwestern Yemen, the Houthi-run 26 September website, citing a civil defense source, said a house collapsed in the village of al-Khadraa in Ku'aydinah, killing three children and injuring their parents.

Yemen’s fragile infrastructure, badly damaged by more than a decade of conflict between the internationally recognized government forces and the Houthi group, has compounded the humanitarian toll of seasonal floods, with residents complaining of the lack of basic services.
