BEIJING (AA) – At least 18 people have been confirmed dead and another 18 people are still missing after China’s northeastern province of Jilin hit by floods, according to state news agency Xinhua Monday.
Citing local authorities, Xinhua reported that central and eastern parts of Jilin have been “inundated” due to heavy rains on Thursday and Friday.
More than 110,000 people have been evacuated, the agency added.
A 32,630-strong search and rescue team has arrived at the city to restore damaged buildings and bridges as well as reconnect houses to telecommunications and electricity networks, the agency reported.
