ANKARA (AA) - Turkish football powerhouse Besiktas' German goalkeeper Loris Karius sustained a thigh injury, the club said Tuesday.

Besiktas announced on their website that Karius, 26, was diagnosed with a thigh muscle strain.

They said that Karius has been suffering from a grade two strain in his thigh.

He was subbed out during Sunday's friendly match against Italy's Brescia.

Karius is under treatment of club doctors, Besiktas said.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper joined Besiktas in August 2018.

Karius had 35 club appearances in Besiktas, known as Black Eagles. He previously played for German club Mainz 05 and English team Liverpool.

He played in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final where Liverpool lost to Spain's Real Madrid 3-1 in Kiev.
