ANKARA (AA) - Spain's top football divisions will resume on June 11, La Liga Chairman Javier Tebas told Spanish daily Marca on Friday.

"We'll restart, if God allows, on June 11. We'll start next season on Sept. 12," Tebas told Marca.

"We're prepared and the important thing will be the day we finish the league," he added.

Spain's National Sports Council (CSD) confirmed Tebas' statement.

It stated that matches postponed from the 28th week will kick off with a Sevilla vs. Real Betis match on June 11, and that La Liga is expected to end on July 18-19, depending on the course of the virus.

Spain's top two football divisions have been suspended since March 12 due to the coronavirus threat.

Spain has reported nearly 238,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 27,119 deaths so far, according to data compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
