WASHINGTON (AA) - Police arrested a former Republican candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives for shooting at the homes of Democrats in the state, according to authorities.
Albuquerque police arrested Solomon Pena on Monday.
Pena, a failed legislative candidate in the 2022 election, is accused of conspiring with and paying four other men to shoot at the homes of two county commissioners and two state legislators, Police Chief Harold Medina said Monday.
Pena lost his 2022 run for state House District 14.
The Republican "paid the men cash and sent text messages with addresses where he wanted them to shoot at the homes," according to a statement by the Albuquerque Police Department.
The shootings did not result in any injuries.
