ANKARA (AA) - Formula 1 team Red Bull confirmed Tuesday they extended the contract of driver Max Verstappen for another three years.
"The team is pleased to announce a contract extension with Max to race with us until the end of the 2023 season," Red Bull said in a statement on its website.
Verstappen said he was glad to extend his partnership with Red Bull.
"Red Bull believed in me and gave me the opportunity to start in Formula 1 which I have always been very grateful for. Over the years I have grown closer and closer with the team and besides the passion from everyone and the on-track performance it is also really enjoyable to work with such a great group of people," he added.
Verstappen became the youngest driver to race in the Formula 1 at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix when he was 17-year-old.
Having joined Red Bull in 2014, he finished the 2019 Formula 1 Championship in the third place with 278 points.
The 22-year old driver recorded three Grand Prix victories with nine podium finishes and two pole positions with Red Bull last year.
