ISTANBUL (AA) - Number 22 seeded Frances Tiafoe advanced to US Open semifinals with a straight-sets victory Wednesday against Andrey Rublev.

Tiafoe, who eliminated Rafael Nadal in the fourth round, eliminated the ninth-seeded Rublev from Russia, 7-6, 7-6 and 6-4 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

He will face the winner of the Jannik Sinner versus Carlos Alcaraz match.

The 24-year-old became the first American man to be in the last four in 16 years. Andy Roddick qualified for the semifinals but lost to Roger Federer in 2006.
