ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian teenager Anastasia Potapova defeated fifth-seeded German Angelique Kerber in the first round of the French Open on Sunday.
The 18-year-old beat Wimbledon champion Kerber, 6-4, 6-2, in 73 minutes.
As it is her first time at Roland Garros, Potapova is world number 81, while Kerber is fifth-seeded.
Meanwhile, Swiss Roger Federer reached the second round with a 3-0 victory in the first round over Lorenzo Sonego.
Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Federer beat the Italian 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.
