French president arrives in Singapore on last leg of Southeast Asian tour

Macron met Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, scheduled to meet, deliver keynote address at Shangri-La Dialogue

ISTANBUL (AA) - French President Emmanuel Macron arrived Thursday in Singapore on the last leg of his three-nation Southeast Asian tour, the Straits Times newspaper reported.

Macron, who is on a two-day visit to Singapore, met with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, where the two leaders attended a dinner.

The president will meet Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, according to a statement from the Singaporean Foreign Ministry.

Macron is scheduled to meet Wong again on Friday to witness the signing of several memoranda of understanding in defense and security, legal affairs, artificial intelligence (AI), transport and more.

The French president will also deliver the keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s premier forum on security and defense.
