ISTANBUL (AA) - A French soldier caught global attention after he continued to march in a military parade after he injured his ear with a sword.
The soldier's right ear was covered in blood because of an injury by the ceremonial sword he was carrying during a military parade as part of Bastille Day celebrations Monday. The young soldier did not stop marching despite the injury.
The soldier was reportedly doing "well," the army confirmed to the Le Parisien newspaper.
The parade was also marked by footage of a horse and rider falling and another horse breaking from the Republican Guards cavalry formation.
Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, a key event in the French Revolution.
