ANKARA (AA) - Manchester City hammered Watford 5-1 with the help of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus and extended their lead in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Jesus, 25, had an epic performance, scoring four goals and an assist at Manchester's Etihad Stadium.

The Brazilian star scored an early opener as he tapped the ball into the net after Oleksandr Zinchenko's low cross.

Man City made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Jesus scored a close-range header.

Five minutes later, Watford pulled one back when Hassane Kamara fired a low shot in the penalty area to put the ball into Man City’s net.

Rodri scored a sensational goal from outside the box to make it 3-1 in the 34th minute.

In the second half, Jesus was brought down by Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster and Man City were awarded a penalty kick.

Jesus scored from the white spot in minute 49 to complete a hat-trick.

It was Jesus' day for sure as the Brazilian national added a fourth goal in the 53rd minute to close the scoring.

Jesus became the first Manchester City player to score four goals in a single match since Sergio Aguero did it in 2018.

Man City legend Aguero netted four goals against Leicester City in a 2018 Premier League match that the Sky Blues won 5-1 at Etihad Stadium.

Leaders Manchester City have 80 points in 33 matches, four ahead of second-place Liverpool, who will play a derby Sunday against Everton at Anfield.

Watford were handed their fourth straight loss in the league, and are in the 19th spot with 22 points, which means the Hornets are facing the danger of relegation.
