Galatasaray appoint Albert Riera assistant coach

Former Galatasaray player helped his team win 2 Turkish Super League titles, 2 Turkish Super Cup trophies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Galatasaray have appointed Albert Riera their new assistant coach, adding him to head coach Domenec Torrent's staff, the Lions announced on Wednesday.

"Welcome to #Galatasaray, Albert Riera!," the Istanbul football side said on Twitter.

The 39-year-old made appearances for the Lions between 2011 and 2014 in 80 matches, winning two Turkish Super League titles and two Turkish Super Cup trophies.

Riera also served as an assistant coach for the Yellow-Reds in the 2020-21 season.

He has also played for some European football clubs such as Bordeaux, Espanyol, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Olympiacos.
