German army to make major investment in air defense

Germany army aims to purchase missile defense systems, UAVs, and weapons against drone swarms, according to reports in German press

BERLIN (AA) - The German army (Bundeswehr) will invest largely to make air defense more effective in a decade with increasing uncertainty, as well as geopolitical risks.

According to reports in the German press, German Chief of General Staff Gen. Carsten Breuer approved the report on May 19, which aims to make the German army more effective in air defense.

In the news, it was noted that one of the most important priorities of the German army is to strengthen protection against air threats amid increasing uncertainty.

For this purpose, the Bundeswehr will purchase integrated missile defense, short and medium-range air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and weapons against drone swarms.

The German military also aims to expand and further develop modern air attack capabilities, including attack and defense capabilities in cyberspace.
