ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's exports dropped by 1.4% month-on-month in May and rose by 0.4% on a yearly basis, federal statistical authority Destatis announced on Tuesday.
The country's imports also fell by 3.8% month-on-month in May and increased by 4.2% year-on-year.
After calendar and seasonal adjustment, Germany exported goods to the value of €129.4 billion ($152 billion) and imported goods to the value of €111.1 billion.
Germany's foreign trade balance posted a surplus of €18.4 billion in May.
Exported goods worth €71.3 billion to the EU members, while it imported goods worth €57.7 billion from these countries.
Exports of goods to countries outside the EU amounted to €58.1 billion in May, while imports from these countries totaled €53.3 billion.
Exports to Russia decreased by 12.1% to €500 million in May 2025 from April 2025 and were down 11.1% from May 2024, while imports from Russia rose by 9.4% to €100 million in May compared with April 2025 and were down 39.8% from May 2024.
