ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's exports increased by 14.3% to reach €124.7 billion ($137.2 billion) in February, compared to the same month last year, official figures showed on Monday.

According to Destatis, Germany’s statistical office, the country's imports increased by 24.6% to €113.1 billion ($124.4 billion) over the same period.

The country's foreign trade balance posted a surplus of €11.5 billion ($12.7 billion) in February.

"In trade with the Russian Federation, exports (-6.3%) and imports (-7.3%) were markedly down in February 2022 compared with January 2022," Destatis said.

"Trade with Russia was not restricted until late February 2022 as a result of Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the sanctions imposed as a consequence," it added.
