Germany's annual consumer inflation was confirmed at a four-month low of 2.2% in March, according to official data released on Friday.
The figure was down from 2.3% in both February and January thanks to a decline in energy prices, the Destatis data showed.
Energy product prices in March dropped 2.8% from a year ago, accelerating from a fall of 1.6% in February.
The cost of food, on the other hand, rose 3% year-on-year in March, gaining pace from February's 2.4% rise.
On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices in March ticked up 0.3%, in line with initial estimates.
The core Consumer Price Index (CPI), excluding food and energy, climbed 2.6% on an annual basis in March and 0.6% on a monthly basis.
