ISTANBUL (AA) - Global semiconductor sales surged 15.8% on a quarterly basis in the third quarter of this year, reaching $208.4 billion, according to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) on Monday.
In September alone, semiconductor sales climbed 25.1% year-on-year to $69.5 billion.
Regionally, semiconductor sales soared 47.9% on an annual basis in September in the Asia-Pacific region, 30.6% in the Americas, 15% in China, and 6% in Europe, while falling 10.2% in Japan.
SIA CEO John Neuffer emphasized that global chip sales continued to grow in the third quarter and significantly exceeded sales in the second quarter.
“Market growth was driven by increased demand across a range of semiconductor products, including memory and logic. And year-to-year growth was fueled by sales into the Asia Pacific region and the Americas," he added.
