ANKARA/ISTANBUL (AA) - An activist aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla sailing toward Gaza to break the Israeli blockade and deliver aid said on Wednesday evening that the flotilla declared an alarm mode in case of Israeli interception.
"We have now gone into alarm mode on the Sirius ship. We were told there are 12 ships ahead of us, at a distance of about 10 minutes," Dilek Tekocak said.
Speaking from the Sirius, Tekocak stated that the Israeli navy was in close proximity to the flotilla and that all boats in the flotilla had gone on alert.
Noting they were standing by with life jackets in case of a possible Israeli intervention, she underlined that they had already been “harassed” twice by military boats.
"We are a non-violent group carrying humanitarian aid. If there is any intervention, we will not resist; we will show passive resistance. We have said this many times already," she added.
