ISTANBUL (AA) – A global technology summit opened in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, bringing together hundreds of government officials, policymakers, and international technology and legal experts from around the world.
The Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS) covers some key topics such as artificial intelligence governance, digital privacy and rights, cross-border enforcement, cybersecurity in the post-quantum era, and the role of emerging nations in setting global standards.
According to the state news agency WAM, the two-day event seeks to “develop ethical and legislative frameworks for advanced technologies, most notably AI, quantum computing, and Web3.”
The UAE has been one of the leading countries in AI and digital economy sectors, with investments exceeding $3.5 billion.
